The next generation of the Minimum Data Set, the MDS 3.0, is scheduled for implementation in nursing homes next year. This session will provide an overview of the new assessment tool, including changes compared to the MDS 2.0, and a preview of the shift in philosophical approach to assessment that comes with it. The session will include a discussion of implementation strategies and will begin to explore changes in the HIM approach to the MDS that the new tool is likely to bring about.
