Job Description: Work from home! Capital Health is seeking full and part time coders to work remotely after training!
Responsibilities Include:
- Assigns codes with high accuracy rate in accordance with coding guidelines. Completes coding according to established time frame and ensures reduced DNFB accounts.
- Maintains excellent accuracy rate for proper sequencing of codes for proper DRG assignment per coding guidelines.
- Discusses medical record information with physicians when necessary in accordance with coding guidelines.
- Contacts physicians or other staff to obtain missing documentation or signatures timely in an effort to reduce DNFB accounts.
- Abstracts data with a high accuracy rate in accordance with established policy.
- Adapts to changing department demands evidenced by higher department efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous hospital or medical setting or patient coding experience.
- Possesses excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Has vigilance and keen attention to detail. Possesses proper phone and email etiquette for frequent hospital and private provider exchanges. Excellent time management to meet deadlines and productivity targets. Intermediate computer skills.
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding classifications. Knowledge of 3M encoder, Cerner EHR, HBOC, and OnBase preferred. Ensures compliance with medical coding policies and guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CCS, CIC, COC, CPC-H, or CPC-A certification
