Welcome to NJHIMA

The New Jersey Health Information Management Association (NJHIMA) is a non-profit component state association (CSA) of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and has over 1,700 members. AHIMA represents over 103,000-health information management (HIM) professionals who are dedicated to the effective management of personal health information needed to deliver quality healthcare to the public.

NJHIMA supports and promotes HIM professionals by advancing best practices through education, technology, professional development, leadership, advocacy, and communication.

HIM professionals perform diverse roles in healthcare and are employed in a wide variety of work settings including hospitals, physician offices, ambulatory care facilities, managed care facilities, long-term care facilities, consulting firms, information system vendors, colleges and universities, insurance providers, pharmaceutical companies, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare-related venues. HIM professionals often serve in bridge roles, connecting clinical, operational, and administrative functions. In short, HIM professionals affect the quality of patient information and patient care at every touch point in the healthcare delivery cycle. Having skilled HIM professionals on staff ensures an organization has the right health information on hand when and where it is needed while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity, privacy, confidentiality, and security.

To join NJHIMA, you must be a member of AHIMA and designate New Jersey as your component state association. Learn more about AHIMA membership and join today. For AHIMA contact information, click here.
