Laudine A. Markovchick, RHIT, CCS
Pena4

I have been a member of NJHIMA for over 20 years. I began my career at Cooper Hospital in Camden, filing loose material (no such animal exists nowadays) and performed many other clerical tasks prior to beginning to code. I stayed at Cooper until I did a brief stint with NJ Blue Cross/Blue Shield as a DRG auditor. I joined the NJHA in 1996, where I continued as a coder/auditor, travelling to various hospital sites, broadening my knowledge and experience.
At NJHA, I had the opportunity to represent the organization as a speaker for NJHIMA quarterly meetings in the late 90s/early 2000. I left NJHA in 2006 and since then have joined Pena4 (formerly HIMonCall) in 2017, currently in the position of Director of Coding, Data Quality & Education. In my current position, I am responsible for the delivery of quality coding services to all our clients, overseeing a team in India as well as the US and Puerto Rico. In addition to Educational sessions I present for our clients and in-house team, I have presented a Webinar on ICD-10 Denials and have been a guest on Talk Ten Tuesday presented by Chuck Buck on behalf of ICD 10 Monitor.
On a personal level, I am a mother of 2 grown children and have 1 grandchild. I have been a Jersey girl all my life, but am about to make the leap to Delaware in summer of 2019, as we are building a home there. I currently reside with my husband in Ocean City NJ as we await our home’s completion.
In my downtime, I enjoy hiking and spending time with family.
